As a result of the energy crisis in the late 1970s, Hunter Douglas introduced the first energy efficient and fashionable window covering with Duette® honeycomb shades. As a leader in the industry, Hunter Douglas continues to bring innovative new solutions into consumers’ homes.

Today, as consumers continue to search for ways to conserve energy and save money, Hunter Douglas has once again revolutionized window fashions with the Duette Architella™ Collection – providing the ultimate in energy efficiency and distinctive design. Duette Architella honeycomb shades feature a patented honeycomb-within-a-honeycomb construction. This provides two more air pockets than traditional honeycomb shades and dramatically increases R-values, which measure a product’s ability to keep heat in and cold out. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulation provided.

The Duette Architella Collection semi-opaque fabrics offer an average R-value of 5.48 in the ¾" pleat and 6.02 in the 1¼" pleat. The opaque fabrics offer even greater insulation: 7.22 in the 1¼" pleat and 7.73 in ¾" pleat. Other products have only attained an average R-value of 3.30 with their semi-opaque single cell construction. All figures are for doublepane windows with Low-E glass.

Here’s what customer Brandon Arneson of Pillar Communities, LLC in Scottsdale, Arizona, had to say about the benefits of Duette Architella shades. “We noticed a huge difference immediately after the Architella shades were installed in one of our hottest offices. Now that all the windows on the south side of the building have these shades, our office temperature never rises above 74 degrees even when it is 115 degrees outside. The difference is amazing! In addition to superior insulating properties, the innovative Architella honeycomb construction provides truer color on opaque shades, crisp pleat definition and deep color saturation.
