Check For All Hardware Be sure you have all the components identified in Diagram A, above including the following for each blind:
Tools You Will Need
When using tools, make sure you wear proper eye protection. Choose the Proper Fasteners For installation in wood or aluminum frames, Levolor recommends you use the sheet metal screws included with your Mark I blind. For other types of wall or window construction, you will need to furnish different fasteners. Fastener Options See Diagram B above for the following different types of fasteners:
Note: Fastener strength should be rated more than the weight of the blind. Attach the Brackets The brackets supplied are appropriate to your order, either inside or outside mount. Diagram E
Determine where to attach each bracket. Use the bracket template to simplify installing the Levolor Mark I Blind. It positions the bracket 2-1/8" from the end of the headrail and aligns the mounting holes in the correct location (Diagram E). For the inside mount bracket, fold the template along the scored line and use two of the four front holes. The template provides all hole locations for the bracket. Note that one of the brackets is positioned over the cordlock to prevent the headrail from shifting. Bracket Template

Inside Mount Installation To attach the inside mount brackets so the headrail aligns flush with the window pocket, attach the bracket so the tongue is approximately 1/16" from the window frame edge (Diagram F). Depending on the width of the blind, you may receive additional brackets. Be sure to space additional brackets evenly across the length of the headrail. Be sure to use all brackets supplied. Diagram D
Outside Mount Installation The Levolor Mark I Blind uses the outside mounting bracket (Diagram D) for outside mount installations. This bracket is 2¼" wide by 1½" high. When possible, mounting screws should attach to a wall stud; otherwise, use plastic anchors or toggle bolts to secure the bracket to the wall. Insert screws through two holes in the back of the bracket. Depending on the width of the blind, you may receive additional outside mount brackets. Be sure to space additional brackets evenly across the length of the head rail. Be sure to use all brackets supplied. On some Levolor Mark I blinds it will be necessary to inspect the inside of the headrail and determine a proper spacing that will not interfere with the internal hardware in the headrail.

Installing Spacers with Standard Brackets The Levolor Mark I Blind is designed to fit closely to the mounting surface. However, soft wallboard or uneven surfaces affect the blind's ability to engage the bracket (Diagram G). Spacers are provided to eliminate this problem. For each inside mount bracket, first loosen the bracket screws just enough to slide a spacer in between the mounting area and the bracket. Then slide a spacer in until the spacer is flush with the front of the bracket mounting surface (Diagram H). Tighten down the bracket and check the distance between the bracket tongue and the mounting surface. Install additional spacers if necessary.
Install the Headrail The following procedure applies to inside mount Levolor Mark I blinds. Place the front lip of the headrail over the barb on the bracket tongue, and then push the headrail back so that the tongue slides back into the bracket (Diagram I). Diagram I
Rotate the back of the headrail up until the lip clears the hook at the rear of the bracket (Diagram J). Diagram J
Guide the headrail forward and then down until both lips are resting over both the front and rear bracket hooks (Diagram K). Diagram K
Be sure the Levolor Mark I blind is properly secured in the brackets before operating the blind. To remove the Levolor Mark I blind, simply reverse the action. The following procedure applies to outside mount Levolor Mark I blinds and all Mark I blinds using the Universal bracket. With the blind facing you, tilt the bottom of the blind toward you and place the front lip of the headrail over the barb on the bracket tongue (Diagram KK). Rotate the headrail up until the rear lip clears the hook at the rear of the bracket.
To remove the Levolor Mark I blind, locate the bracket tongues holding the lower part of the blind. Pry the tongue back (this may require the use of a screwdriver). While providing support for the blind, allow the blind to rotate away from the bracket. Attach the Tilt Wand You may need to attach the wand to the tilt gear stem. Push the tilt wand up onto the metal Tilter Loop as shown in Diagram L. Rotate the tilt wand to open and close the blind slats. Use the lift cord to raise and lower the blind as shown in Diagram M. Remove the Protective Paper There is a protective paper covering on the face of your new Levolor Mark I headrail. Remove it carefully when all other installation steps have been successfully completed. Hold Down Brackets These brackets are used only where it is desirable to keep the bottom of the blind from swinging freely, such as on a door. To Install the Hold Down Brackets:
